Background:

I grew up in a small city in Wisconsin called Port Washington which is located about 20 minutes north of Milwaukee. I attended a Catholic Elementary School early on and switched to a public middle school. I can credit my love for history to one teacher there Mr. Murphy. He was the first one to make history fun and not only was I consumed by historical study, I became obsessed with studying the Early American Republic. I graduated from Port Washington High School with honors a semester early so I could enlist in the United States Marine Corps. It was short lived since I fractured my leg early on and it didn’t heal in a way which would make me fit for combat.

I returned to Wisconsin to attend the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay. I enrolled with a Pre-Medicine major with the hope of being a Cardiothoracic Surgeon and looking forward to the fast paced and lucrative career to follow. It wasn’t even two weeks into my freshman year when I met Ellen, the woman I would spend the rest of my life with. After our relationship grew more committed and we knew we would last, we both made a decision for me to make a change in my studies. If I am going to have a wife and kids, I didn’t want to be in a hospital 80 hours per week. So I returned to my first love, History.

One of my favorite hobbies is that of homebrewing and Craft Beer (click to download my Beer Passport) . I have won several awards for my homebrews and I have been able to sample hundreds of brews from all over the world and I publish reviews of all of them on BeerPal.com which allows me to reflect back on what Ive experienced. I am fascinated on how Americans now think about beer and am writing my first book examining just that. During my off hours I enjoy improving my marksmanship skills through precision shooting. I have a custom rifle system which coupled with my shooting skills, allows me to reach 1,000 yards. I also am enthusiastic about handloading my own ammunition which provides me with Match Grade ammunition better than anything I can buy in a store.

I am currently employed as an Electrician in Green Bay, WI. In 2009, my Wife and I bought a farmhouse in Ellisville where we currently reside with our two cats.
